As your President, it was a pleasure to oversee the 68th Annual National All Juried Exhibit at the historic galleries in the Salmagundi Art Club. Those fortunate to view these eclectic works of art also became our sounding board for such positive feedback, reflecting one of our finest exhibits. Even our reception, jammed with several hundred art lovers, was a true testament to the new players on the art scene as far as Hawaii and as close as Manhattan.
In this "all juried year" of art entries, many works from our Active Members and Associates were also scrutinized for exhibition. The Honorary Members of our art society were charged with the dynamic of reaching the final picks which opened up exhibition opportunities for many new non-members. The awards jurors, composed of Museum Curators, deliberated for hours before unfolding several new recipients amongst their veteran colleagues.
Audubon Artists’ digital processing of art entries continues to raise the high-tech bar for our Medium Directors in their quest to deliver the images on Selections Day. I would like to acknowledge the outstanding volunteerism of my Officers, Directors and Chairpersons who make up the Executive Board. They will be challenged in the near future to further modernize our operations, including plans to separate "Collage & Mixed Media" from the Aquamedia Division and finally give this range of work its own well deserved medium category. No doubt this move will revolutionize our art society and have national implications. Many artists will be attracted to this new haven of "Collage & Mixed Media" and this should be cost effective from projected new entries. Though Audubon Artists is obliged to sponsor the Gold and Silver medals in this division, I am optomistic so far from pledges to fill in the other needed awards. Even Marquis Publications has stepped up in adding another Who’s Who In American Art references award for 2011.
After a dead-heat survey with our members, the Board will also determine whether our signature membership mark will be federally registered as AA (Audubon Artists) or AAS (Audubon Artists Society).
May I emphasize the need to join our adjunct arm of Audubon Artists as an Associate Member. You can become the next generation of Active Members and complement the Executive Board.
We appreciate the continued support from our awards donors and welcome new sponsorship, so vital to keeping Audubon Artists in the forefront as a major and prestigious national art society.
With Heartfelt Gratitude For Your Support, I Remain,
Vincent J. Nardone, President
